You will need to rest after surgery. The surgery or extraction site will bleed for a while after the procedure.

Our dentist will place a gauze pad on the site and you will need to change it when it becomes soaked. If bleeding continues for more than 24 hours, contact our office.

We recommend that you:

-Do not lie down until the bleeding stops. Instead rest your head on a pillow.

-Use all prescribed medication as directed by the Doctor.

-Place an ice pack on your cheek over the surgery site to help relieve pain and swelling.

-Maintain a soft diet for a few days. The recommended diet includes: gelatin, pudding, yogurt, mashed potatoes, ice cream and food that you can eat without chewing.

-Do not use a straw.

-Do not smoke.

If you experience prolonged pain, irritation, or bleeding, or feel that the extraction site is healing, contact our office.
